Tennessee State has one of the best basketball traditions in all of HBCU sports, but it has been off track as of late. TSU has gone just 23-40 in the past few years, which has gotten head coach Travis Williams fired. The school announced the change in a release this afternoon.

“We thank Coach Williams for his hard work both as an assistant and as a head coach, and we wish him the best in all future endeavors,” Phillips said. “We want to move in a different direction and believe that this decision is in the best interest of Tennessee State and our Men’s Basketball program”.
Tennessee State went just 5-25 in 2014 after appearing in the College Insider Tournament last year.
