1. Lincoln (13-4, 5-3)
LU experienced a setback on Wednesday night, losing 64-63 to a good Elizabeth City State team. Still, the Lions have been the most consistent team all year.

2. Winston-Salem State (11-7, 6-2)
Early in the season, Winston-Salem State looked like a team with more than 10 new players. The Rams have settled down in January, going 6-2 in the month. Saturday’s matchup against Fayetteville State could have big CIAA Tournament implications.

3. Fort Valley State (12-5, 8-0)
Much like WSSU, Fort Valley dug itself a hole early, going 4-5 to start the season. The Wildcats have been perfect in conference play, however, winning all eight games so far.

4. Fayetteville State (12-6, 5-3)
Though Fayetteville State came out on the losing side of its matchup against Livingstone, they have to get credit for beating the teams they are supposed to. FSU’s only conference losses are to Lincoln, Elizabeth City State and Livingstone.

5. Livingstone (12-5, 5-3)
It seems like forever ago that Livingstone was nationally ranked and at the top of this ranking. Simply put, the Blue Bears have to stop playing down to their competition.
