Virginia Union is one of five Division II school’s without a head football coach, but that could be changing soon. New athletic director Joe Taylor announced on Friday that VUU had narrowed its field of candidates down to four. Three of the four are Virginia Union alumni.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js -Mark James has spent the past two seasons as defensive line coach at VUU. The Florida native has coached at Norfolk State and St. Pauls in addition to nearly a decade as a high school football coach in Florida.
-Elizabeth City State offensive coordinator Alvin Parker played at VUU in the late 90s and later helped the school win several CIAA Division championships.
-Former Morgan State defensive coordinator Herbert Parham was an all-CIAA defensive lineman at VUU before starting a coaching career that included a decade-long stint at Hampton. While at Hampton, Parham served as Taylor’s assistant and has helped run his coaching camp.
-Orlando Mitjans, Jr is the one player who doesn’t have any previous VUU ties. Mitjans played two seasons under Lou Holtz at Arkansas and has coached at Tennessee State, Towson and Georgia State, where he currently coaches cornerbacks.
