Southern scored 44 points before Champion Baptist scored. |
Southern basketball found its way into the record books on Monday night, and it only took one half to do it. Southern opened with 44 points before Champion Baptist got on the board at the free throw line, setting a new NCAA record. The Jaguars went on to win 116-12.

Champion Baptist shot less than 7 percent from the field, hitting just 3 of 44 field goal attempts. Its leading scorer was guard Zach Hendricks, with four points. Southern had five players score in double-figures, led by Trey Lynch’s 27 off the bench. The Jags shot just under 60 percent for the game.
//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js With games against big-time opponents like Baylor, Arizona and Florida, Southern has taken its lumps. Nothing wrong with giving out a few as well. That’s just the way the game is played.
@HBCUGameday @GottliebShow well at least Champion Baptist had all the disciples tallied on their end of the score.
