HAMPTON, Va. — Big plays helped Hampton University kept its momentum rolling Saturday afternoon as it picked up its third straight win in a 30-7 blowout of Delaware State at Armstrong Stadium.
The Pirates are now 3-5 on the season and 3-1 in MEAC play.
DSU killin me today. I’ll live though…this is a young squad. 2014 will be golden.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js Freshman quarterback Bryan Bailey completed nine of 16 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown — his third straight game with a score — while junior Jorrian Washington recorded his second straight 100-yard rushing game, tallying 127 yards on 14 carries and a score. Redshirt-freshman Twarn Mixson had a team-high 82 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Hampton got on the board first with a 28 yards field goal with just over five mintues remaining in the first quarter. It quickly added to that lead after a DSU interception gave Hampton the short field, and HU capitalized with a one-yard run by Robert Bebeck to go up 10-0.
DSU (3-5, 3-2) managed to cut into the lead with a 15 yard pass from Cory Murphy to Milton Williams, cutting Hampton’s lead to 10-7 at halftime.
Hampton answered quickly in the second half, as Washington went 79 yards on the first play from scrimmage to give HU a 17-7 lead. Bailey’s 75 yard toss to Mixson would cap the team’s scoring for the day.
Hampton will travel to Morgan State next week. Delaware State will host Howard.
