Days after a former FAMU player was killed by a police officer in Charlotte, NC, Bethune-Cookman is morning the loss of one of its own as well. Juan David Munoz, a junior tennis player, died on Sunday night in a motor vehicle accident according the university.
The university issued the following statement.
“The Bethune-Cookman University family is deeply saddened by the loss of one of its students. On Sunday night, the Wildcat Nation lost Juan David Munoz, a junior business major and outstanding tennis player for B-CU. Juan, 20, was driving a motorcycle on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and International Speedway Boulevard at 8:15 p.m. when he and his passenger, Pablo Pritchard, were involved in a collision with a pickup truck. “
“Unfortunately, Juan was pronounced dead at 9 p.m. at Halifax Hospital. His family, who lives in Colombia, South America, was notified of his passing. Pablo, a freshman from Spain, is listed in stable condition at Halifax.”
