North Carolina Central walked into Jerry Richardson Stadium as an underdog, and walked out with a big win. NCCU pounded first-year FCS member UNC Charlotte 40-13, handing the program its first loss in program history.
NCCU (2-1) took advantage of seven UNCC turnovers, including five interceptions. Freshman Mike Jones picked off two passes and linebacker Tiron Guion forced two fumbles. Adrian Wilkins broke the game open with a 100 yard kickoff return for a touchdown to start the second half.
UNCC, a first year program with less scholarship players was the favorite over NCCU? I find that hard to believe.
