Tennessee State’s Covington Headed To Rockets

Former Tennessee State start Robert Covington was offered a contract by Houston Rockets following Thursday night’s draft.

Robert Covington didn’t hear his name announced at the NBA Draft on Thursday, but he will still get the opportunity to pursue his dream. Shortly after the draft, the former Tennessee State star announced, via Instagram, that he has been offered a contract by the Houston Rockets.

Jonathan Givony of Draft Express tweeted that Covington’s deal will include at least $150k guaranteed.

Covington averaged 17 points and 8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per, helping Tennessee State to an appearance in the College Insider Tournament. Though he stands 6’9, Covington has a sweet shooting touch, as he shot better than 38 percent from the three-point line each of his four seasons at TSU.  He was a second team All-Ohio Valley Conference player in 2013.
