Former SMU quarterback Ramon Flannigan is expected to be named next head coach at Lincoln University. |
Just over four months prior to the start of the 2013 football season, Lincoln appears to finally have a head coach. FootballScoop.com reports that Ramon Flanigan will be the new head coach at Lincoln. Officials at Lincoln declined to comment on Monday morning.
Flanigan spent last season as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Mississippi Valley State before being relieved of his duties. Prior to his coaching career, Flanigan was a standout quarterback for Southern Methodist University in the early-to-mid 1990. He also spent time as an offensive coordinator at North Texas, helping the team to four Sun Belt Titles.
If Flanigan is Lincoln’s guy, he has a tough task in front of him in his first head coaching job. The man he replaced, O. J. Abanishe went 8-42 in five seasons before being relieved of his duties. Looking at the stats for MSVS last season, the team ranked near the bottom of the SWAC in scoring offense, total offense and passing offense. Obviously this won’t be an overnight project, but at long last, the Lions have their new leader.
