In a pivotal CIAA matchup on September 28, 2024, Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) defeated Bowie State University (BSU) 28-14 at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC. The game was marked by a strong offensive performance from WSSU, now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
Bowie State struck first with a 16-yard rushing touchdown by Sam Doku, capping a 56-yard drive, but WSSU responded swiftly in the second quarter. A 65-yard touchdown pass from Daylin Lee to Jayden Grimes tied the game. WSSU then added two more touchdowns before halftime— a 2-yard rush by Trevon Hester and a 9-yard pass from Lee to Kaleb Washington—taking a 21-7 lead into the break.
