The University of Miami football squad had a strong showing in its season opener against Florida, and is looking to repeat that against FAMU.
The reigning HBCU national champions, 2-0 after the first two weeks of its season, is doing its best to prepare for what should be a racouious crowd at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
FAMU head coach James Colzie III and his staff are doing what they can do to simulate just how noisy things will get when his team takes on the ACC squad, including adding artificial noise during practice.
“I thought we did well. We had to get past the dancing part,” Colzie said via the Tallahassee Democrat. “Trying to simulate what it’s going to be like down there. You don’t want to be surprised by it.”
The music apparently hit the mark, to the point where Colzie decided to offer a peace offering. He took to social media to try to make it up to any students who may have been disturbed by the noise the program piped in.
“I would like to apologize for the music that you may have heard this morning as we prepare to get ready for the University of Miami at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday,” Colzie said. “I would like to offer 144 students donuts between the times of 11:30 and 12 o’clock here at Galimore-Powell Field House.”
Florida A&M comes into the game against Miami football on a 13-game win streak, the longest in the FCS, as it takes on the Power Four Program. FAMU previously defeated Miami in 1979 under legendary head coach Rudy Hubbard.
