HBCU Football: Delaware State heads to Honolulu for Week Zero

The HBCU football season starts on Aug 24 with Week Zero and the University of Hawaii and Delaware State University will finally kick off their seasons with a matchup on Saturday evening. Fans of each side have been waiting months to see their team take the gridiron. With no recent history between these teams, early possessions could set the tone with each side looking to make their mark early and take control of the game.

Hawaii (5-8 Overall in 2023)

The Rainbow Warriors will enter this season after a 5-8 campaign last year. They averaged 21.4 points and 352 offensive yards per contest in 2023. Defensively, the Rainbow Warriors conceded an average of 32.2 points per game.

It’s the first game of the season for Hawaii. Players in all three phases: offense, defense, and special teams, will be looking to start the season off right.

Hawaii will want to capitalize on this opportunity in its first home game of the year. This will be Hawaii’s only game against an FCS HBCU football opponent.
