Florida A&M football, the reigning HBCU national champion, continues to be reshaped by the transfer portal.
Anthony Dunn, a talented edge player, is the latest Rattler to hit the transfer portal.
Dunn is a 6’4 junior from Sanford, FL who had a standout season as helped FAMU capture the 2023 SWAC title and win the Celebration Bowl to claim the HBCU national title. Dunn recorded 46 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, and eight sacks as a sophomore last season, earning first-team All-SWAC honors. He had multiple sacks in two games – two vs. Jackson State and West Georgia – and had a team-high 12 tackles in a hard-fought loss to South Florida.
Dunn showed flashes of talent his first season for Florida A&M football, recording four sacks and five-and-a-half sacks on the season. Most of that damage came in the regular season finale against Bethune-Cookman where he had three sacks and four tackles for loss. He started his career at Marshall where he redshirted before coming to FAMU.
Dunn is just the latest in a series of talented players to hit the portal for Florida A&M football since the Celebration Bowl and the departure of Willie Simmons as head coach.
Gentle Hunt (30 tackles 5.5 sacks), Allen Smith Jr. (27 tackles, 3.5 sacks) and Deco Williams (32 tackles, three interceptions) are some of the impact players on the defensive side that have hit the portal along, leaving big holes to fill along with the loss of SWAC Defensive Player of The Year Isaiah Major who has exhausted his eligibility.
