HBCU Gameday will broadcast live from the ASU Coliseum on Saturday, Apr. 6, at noon EST for the 2024 Albany State Golden Rams Spring Game.
The Spring Game kicks off at noon, and admission is free for all spectators. The Marching Rams Show Band along with the Cheerleaders will be in attendance. Parking is FREE.
Please be mindful that the Spring 2024 Open House will also take place, so arriving early is advisable to secure your spot. Saturday’s game wraps up the spring season during which the Golden Rams participated in 14 practices.
Second-year head coach Quinn Gray is eager to take his team through the ranks. There are high expectations for the Golden Rams as the SIAC appears to be a wide-open race for 2024. With several new faces leading programs and key departures, including SIAC Champion head coach Chennis Berry from Benedict College, it could be just the opening ASU needs.
It will be a fun-filled broadcast with in-game fan interviews. HBCU Gameday will talk with students, fans, and alumni all over the stadium during the game. We’ll also speak live with Albany State Director of Athletics Dr. Kristine Kelly.
Postgame, we plan to speak with head coach Quinn Gray and his players about the Spring Game.
HBCU Gameday reporter Vaughn Wilson will be on the play-by-play and correspondent Mekhi Yant will provide color commentary. HBCU Gameday sideline reporter Laila Jade will be in the crowd doing the live interviews throughout the event.
Quinn Gray expressed his excitement for Saturday’s game, stating:
“Our student-athletes have put in tremendous work and dedication during our winter conditioning, and they have done a great job of transitioning that to the practice field throughout the spring season. They have shown flashes of being a good football team, and they are looking forward to displaying that in front of family and friends during this weekend’s Blue and Gold Game, which is the culmination of the spring season. As a coach, you look forward to the end of spring so that you can have a chance to see it all come together in a game-type situation with referees and fans, to observe how your team handles certain situations. So, this is an exciting week for our program and our university, and we are looking forward to having a good time this weekend to #MoveTheNeedle!”
Albany State posted a 6-5 record this past season, including 6-2 in SIAC play to earn a berth in the SIAC Football Championship game. The Golden Rams concluded the 2023 campaign ranked eighth in the final 2023 HBCU Division II Coaches Poll powered by BOXTOROW.
