Howard University beats NC Central with big game from Marcus Dockery

Howard University earned an impressive MEAC win on Saturday evening, taking down North Carolina Central by a score of 90-82. The Bison went into halftime with a 42-33 lead and were able to hold off the Eagles for the final 20 minutes.

Marcus Dockery scored 26 points to lead the way for Howard. Dockery was dangerous from three-point land, connecting on 5-of-7 attempts. As a whole, the Bison were elite on the offensive side of the ball, racking up 1.26 points per possession on 57% shooting from the field. Their aggressive play paid off, as they drew 24 fouls on the defense, which led to 22 points on 73% shooting from the charity stripe.

Offense was not the issue for the Eagles. They scored their 82 points on 56% shooting from the field. Fred Cleveland Jr. led the way, putting up 20 points. Ja’Darius Harris also contributed, adding another 18 points.

Meanwhile, North Carolina Central will hit the road once again when they face a Norfolk State team also coming off a loss. They will meet at Joseph G. Echols Memorial Hall.
