Houston will remain the epicenter of the SWAC for quite a while. The conference announced on Thursday that it will keep both its football championship game as well as its basketball tournaments in the nation’s fourth-largest city for the next three years.
“The SWAC’s Council of President and Chancellors approved a three-year extension for the football championship and basketball tournament to remain in Houston. Football will continue playing at NRG Stadium, and basketball will remain at the Toyota Center,” the SWAC said in its release.
One thing that will change, however, is the SWAC basketball tournament format.
It will look like this.

This news comes days after it was revealed that Houston has submitted an offer for the SWAC to relocate its headquarters from Birmingham, Alabama to The Lone Star State’s biggest city.
