Graduating from college is a big deal, and a very special day. But for some student-athletes, commencement coincides with crunch time in their seasons. That was the situation five members of the Florida A&M baseball team found themselves in, as they faced off against the Miami Hurricanes on April 30.
Instead of skipping out on their game, Kenny McDonald, Alec Wong, Kendal Weeks, David Ogilvie and Peter Jackson played while the rest of the FAMU class of 2016 walked across the stage. FAMU President Elmira Mangum showed up prior to the game to present them with their degrees.
FAMU lost 11-2, but these five young men definitely won the day.
