The SWAC season came to an end with a familiar result on Saturday and at least one team is hoping that trend continues.
Texas Southern heads into the conference tournament with the top seed. Mike Davis’ team finished 16-2 in the SWAC and will be looking for its third-straight NCAA Tournament bid. It will start on Wednesday, playing the Alabama A&M/UAPB winner.
It won’t be a waltz in the park, though, as rival Southern has to be feeling confident after knocking off the Tigers on Thursday night. Southern is eligible for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in two years, so it will be looking to make up for lost time. Southern finished a conference-best 19-12 overall, but finished just 11-7 in the SWAC. If they beat Alabama State on Wednesday, they’ll get another shot at TxSo.
