After months of searching and speculation, Shaw football finally has its man. Former North Carolina Central running backs coach Adrian Jones has been hired to take over the school’s football program.
Jones takes over for Robert Massey, who was let go after a 1-9 season in 2015. He previously coached at nearby Southern Durham High School before returning to coach at his alma mater.
Shaw won four CIAA titles from 2004 through 2010, but has struggled to reach those heights since then, with last year’s single win being the low point in the program. Jones plan is to recruit hard and play fast.
“We’re going to be an uptempo, no huddle offense, that always will be in attack mode,” Jones said at his introductory press conference in Raleigh on Thursday.
