Byron Thweatt resigns as Virginia State head coach

For the second time since it won the CIAA Championship in 2014, Virginia State is looking for a new football coach. Sources told HBCU Gameday that Byron Thweatt has resigned as head football coach after just one season with the team.

Virginia State went 6-4 in Thweatt’s inaugural season with the team, failing to win the CIAA Northern Division title for the first time since 2012.

National Signing Day is Feb. 3, just over a week away.
