NC A&T swim photos capture Black Girl Magic, HBCU Sports-style

Update: NC A&T would ultimately disband the women’s swim team in 2016, leaving just one active HBCU swim team. Howard University’s co-ed squad is now the lone HBCU swim squad.

Dorsey’s camera is one that should inspire young women across the country to pursue their goals academically and athletically.

It’s not all serious business, though. Dorsey, long-time NC A&T photographer, also captures the essence of the team enjoying themselves and each other.

  1. “The Creator made all members of the Human family beautiful. It is a sign of inferiority for a whole race of people to try and imitate the beauty standards of another.

This is one of our biggest negative legacy from slavery.

We were dehumanized and made to feel like we were worthless. We were ridiculed and told that we were dirty, black, and ugly.”
