Texas Southern’s search for a new football coach didn’t last long. Michael Haywood will be Texas Southern’s new head football coach after he agreed to a four-year deal, according to WTOP.
Haywood previously served as head coach at Miami of Ohio. He was hired to coach Pittsburgh in 2010, but was fired three weeks later after he was charged with domestic violence. The charges were later dropped.
“I think I can bring Texas Southern an opportunity for young student athletes to have an outstanding career academically, athletically and socially,” Haywood told FoxHouston.
“I will put together a staff that will be second to none, not only in the SWAC Conference, but in any conference in college football to provide an opportunity for these men to become champions on and off the field.
