Michigan State DB Justin Williams transferring to Hampton

Connell Maynor helped turn Winston-Salem State into a Division II powerhouse by bringing in talent from higher divisions. All signs point to Maynor doing that at Hampton as it appears another FBS talent is headed his way.

Michigan State defensive back Justin Williams announced via Twitter that he’s transferring to Hampton on Friday.

The redshirt-sophomore will be able to play immediately for the Pirates who struggled defensively during last season’s 3-9 campaign. Williams didn’t see any action last season after redshirting in 2013.

Williams is the latest FBS player to transfer into Hampton since the end of last season, following former UVa. quarterback David Watford and former Cincinnati receiver Shakim Alonzo.
