We speculated about what the big storylines would be heading into the MEAC’s Media Luncheon last Friday, and we were pretty accurate. The Celebration Bowl was largely the focus, and North Carolina A&T was picked as the conference’s preseason favorite.
One thing we didn’t anticipate was the large number of uniform and helmet updates. The conference’s display served as an ad board for Russell’s uniform design choices.
We knew Howard’s new logo would be there, and the Bison didn’t disappoint.
North Carolina Central made the biggest splash, adding new black uniforms to its arsenal. It also showed off a new grey helmet with a matte finish.
Norfolk State also brought out a new jersey and helmet. The jersey bears a strong resemblance to its in-state rival from the CIAA.

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js Delaware State didn’t bring a new uni, but it did add jersey numbers to its helmet.
As you can see from the photo above, Bethune-Cookman has added a new jersey as well as a new helmet to its arsenal. The new helmet includes our favorite new look of the entire event–a new logo with an interlocking B-C. It’s a very regal, almost USC-ish type style.
Check out the detail here on this helmet.
