Five MEAC teams finished in first place last season, but only one topped the conference’s preseason predicted finish list. That team was North Carolina A&T.
The Aggies, coming off a 9-3 season, were predicted to win the MEAC by coaches and sports information directors in the conference. They feature running back Tarik Cohen, who was named the conference’s preseason Offensive Player of The Year.
“Predictions mean nothing to us,” Tony McRae told reporters in Norfolk on Friday. McRae was named a preseason all-conference pick at defensive back.
“Last season we were working kind of blindly,” Cohen said. “Now we’ve been there and we know what we can get. It’s going to be crazy.”
