Justin Combs arrived at UCLA with a lot of fanfare back in 2012. But you expect that when your father is one of the most well-known (and wealthy) hip-hop figures of all-time. Since then, the reserve defensive back has stayed out of the limelight, until now.
Sean “P. Diddy” Combs was arrested on suspicion of assault charges on Monday afternoon after he allegedly assaulted a member of the UCLA football staff for yelling at his son, according to TMZ.
Whatever happens with his father, it’s hard to see Justin sticking around UCLA after all this controversy. Add to that the fact that the 5’7, 170 lb redshirt junior has played in just seven games and recorded four tackles in his UCLA career, it might be time for him to look at other options.
We’d suggest he look no further than his father’s alma mater, Howard University.
Unless Combs’ has put in a lot of work and gotten a couple inches bigger and faster, he probably won’t see much more playing time at UCLA this season than he has in his first too, especially after this.
A guy his size could do well at a lower level (Howard is in the FCS), and Howard could use the help in its defensive backfield as it ranked 87th in the FCS in pass defense last season.
It could work out for Diddy, too, assuming he doesn’t get any time for his latest incident. He could take in Howard’s homecoming and watch his son play at the same time.
