Norfolk State lands FBS transfer at quarterback

Latrell Scott’s successful two-year stint at Virginia State was due in large part to transfer quarterbacks he brought to the Division II school. Now at Norfolk State, Scott has landed another transfer quarterback in former Florida Atlantic QB Greg Hankerson.

Hankerson will compete with rising sophomore Terrance Ervin for the starting job.

“We’re going to give him every opportunity to play,” Scott told HamptonRoads.com. “Obviously, we’re not saying he’s replacing Terrance by any stretch.”

Scott won back-to-back CIAA Northern Division titles with Justin Thorpe, who transfered from James Madison, and Tarian Ayers, who came from Virginia Military Institute.

He will be looking to improve an offense that was pretty bad in 2014. NSU ranked 117th in the FCS in yards and scored just 15 touchdowns in 11 games.
