Kentucky State will be without Wali Clanton Jr. when it returns for football practice this fall. The walk-on was killed in a shooting at a pool party in the Atlanta-area on Saturday..
“He’s a phenomenal kid,” says his father, Wali Clanton, Sr. told WSBTV. “I can’t even explain. He was just an awesome kid.”
The 19-year-old from Stockbridge, GA was one of five people shot when a fight broke out at the party, which was cut short when the host found out his daughter had been drugged.
We were certainly upset upon hearing the news of this young man’s tragic death in Georgia. He will remain in our thoughts as the campus community comes together in light of this tragedy,” KSU President Raymond M. Burse said in a statement. “We offer our deepest sympathy and support to Wali Clanton’s family and friends.”
