NCCU football player hospitalized in incident that killed a student manager

North Carolina Central is mourning the loss of a student-manager and praying for the recovery of a student-athlete.
Chekeira Reid and Tariq Jacobs were involved in a car accident on Highway 55 near Crete St, according to NCCU.
Reid, who served as manager for football and women’s basketball, is dead. Jacobs, a member of NCCU’s football team, is being treated at Duke hospital.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of both NCCU students.
