North Carolina Central and FAMU met on the baseball diamond at Durham Athletic Park earlier this month. Next month, the two squads will meet on a much bigger stage.
NCCU and FAMU will play at Fenway Park, home of Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox, on April 25 according to the Tallahassee Democrat.
“It should be exciting, and I am happy for the kids to get this opportunity, ” FAMU coach Jamey Shouppe said Sunday night.
“We will make sure when we go that they understand the history behind it. And enjoy the fact that they get to play in a big-league venue.”
FAMU and Central will open their three-game MEAC series on Friday, April 24, with a doubleheader at Jim Rice Field at Ramsey Park in Roxbury, a neighborhood in Boston.
The Red Sox and sponsors will pay the expenses, including air travel and hotel, for both teams.
NCCU swept FAMU in a three-game series March 20-21.
Wow…this is nice to see.
