HBCU Marching Bands and the Super Bowl Halftime

HBCU Bands are world-renowned for their incredibly unique style, having performed in front of millions at national parades and even in front of royalty.

A select few of them, however, have been invited to perform at halftime of the biggest event in sports, The Super Bowl. Grambling, Southern and FAMU have performed at the big game a total of 12 times during the Super Bowl’s first 48 years, including the first four.

Here’s how the break down goes.

Grambling: 6 (I,II, IX, XIV, XXI, XXXII)

Southern: *4 (IV, XV, XXIV, XLVII)
