If the Earl Holmes era of FAMU football isn’t over, it’s definitely in jeopardy. FootballScoop.com is reporting that AD Kellen Winslow Jr. will fire the former FAMU star and NFL vet as head coach on Monday.
A source told HBCU Gameday that they aren’t sure if Holmes will be fired, but they did acknowledge his job may be in jepoardy.
FAMU has struggled under its second-year head coach. Saturday’s loss to Morgan State put FAMU’s record at 0-5. This marks the first time the program has lost its first five games in its history.
In addition to the team’s lackluster performance on the field, the source says Holmes’ attitude has strained the relationship between FAMU and many of the state’s football coaches.
