Former Tennessee State Star Named D-League All-Star Game MVP

It’s been a while since an HBCU product played in an NBA All-Star Game, but one just had a big day on All-Star Saturday. Robert Covington set a D-League All-Star Game record with 33 points as the Tennessee State product led The Prospects to a 145-142 over The Futures on Saturday afternoon. The Rio Grande forward was named MVP of the game.

Covington was undrafted in 2013, but signed with the Houston Rockets. He’s played in five games for the Rockets averaging 2.2 points per game. Covington has averaged 21.4 points and 9 rebounds per game for Rio Grande.
