As the drama around Grambling unfolded last week, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) was essentially mute. Two days after the player insurgency led to Grambling having to forfeit its conference game against rival Jackson State, the Birmingham, AL-based conference has released a statement on the matter.
“The ramifications of this unprecedented situation is covered in our bylaws and constitution,” SWAC commissioner Duer Sharp said. “Therefore, there should not be any confusion as it relates to how a boycotted game will be classified.”
Grambling State is scheduled to play Texas Southern for homecoming on Saturday.
