NC A&T Looks To Get On Track Against Del State

Delaware State at NC A&T

Two weeks ago, NC A&T fans were talking playoff bids and a potential MEAC championship. Two losses later, those lofty goals are still there, but it will take a quick regroup and a lot of help from Bethune-Cookman and South Carolina State for that to happen. A&T followed up a tough five point loss to SC State with a shocking 31-26 loss to previously winless Hampton.

Delaware State started the season in an 0-3 hole, but has played well in its last three games, going 2-1 during that stretch. However, head coach Kermit Blount is just 2-10 against North Carolina A&T in his career.

Can Del State Establish A Running Game?

So far, the Hornets running game has been virtually non-existent. DSU is averaging just 2.4 yards per game, second to last in the MEAC. It faces a NC A&T defense that allows just 2.7 yards per carry. If DSU can’t get any type of running game going, it will have to rely solely on its passing game, which will have to contend with a talented A&T defensive back field.

Prediction

These two teams started off in opposite directions, A&T winning its first three games and Delaware State losing its first three. Over the past few weeks, Delaware State has been playing its best ball while A&T has tripped up. Still, if A&T can’t find its footing at home in Aggie Stadium after losing to Hampton, this team has serious problems.
