The WSSU basketball shakeup won’t end with the loss of Cleo Hill Jr.

Winston-Salem State is losing its returning leading scorer and a recent Division I commitment following the departure of Cleo Hill Jr. to take the job at Maryland-Eastern Shore.

Ketron “KC” Shaw announced he will be hitting the transfer portal via social media on Tuesday

“First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to play the game I love at Winston Salem State University,” Shaw wrote. “These past two years have been nothing but short of amazing. Thank vou to the Coaching Staff for believing in me and giving me a chance to play at the collegiate level. I am grateful for the entire WSSU program, my teammates, and the community for vour continuous support throughout the vears.

Shaw joined WSSU prior to the 2022-2023 season. He played 27 games during his freshman season for the Rams, averaging 3.6 points per game and 2.4 rebounds. He started for much of the season, including the run to the CIAA title.

Shaw took a larger offensive role in his sophomore season, averaging 10.8 points per game 4.8 rebounds as WSSU recorded the best record in the CIAA.

Also leaving WSSU is Wesley Tubbs III. Tubbs, a three-star prospect in the 2023 class, committed to WSSU this spring. He announced he was de-committing from WSSU on Wednesday as well.
