HBCU Football Classic to feature pair of MEAC teams

The Circle City Classic is an HBCU tradition that dates back to the mid-1980s. Here is a release announcing the 2024 matchup.

INDIANAPOLIS — The North Carolina Central University football team will be returning to Lucas Oil Stadium for the 40th annual Circle City Classic as NCCU’s Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game against Norfolk State University has been officially moved to the neutral site on Saturday, Sept. 28.
 
The Eagles and Spartans were originally scheduled to play on Nov. 9 in Norfolk, Virginia. The game now shifts to the home venue of the Indianapolis Colts and will become the 2024 MEAC opener for both programs.

The Circle City Classic was once one of the marquee HBCU football games.

The Circle City Classic is an annual showcase of historically black colleges (HBCU) and universities with numerous other events taking place around the marquee HBCU football game.
 
North Carolina Central defeated Mississippi Valley State University, 45-3, in the Circle City Classic last season. North Carolina Central defeated Norfolk State 38-24 at O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium in Durham last year.
