WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) Department of Athletics announces its 2024 schedule featuring five home contests for the first time since 2019 at Bowman Gray Stadium.

“We start the season off against two really good programs, but we are a veteran group, so I expect us to do well,” said head coach Robert Massey. “However, preparation is the key, and we plan to get us to our end goal which is winning a CIAA championship, and we begin that with spring ball and keep going from there.”

The Rams open the season on Saturday, September 7th traveling up I-40 to play North Carolina A&T State University Aggies at Truist Stadium for the first time since 2010.

The following weekend, the Rams kick off their home opener on September 14th as Ohio Dominican comes to Bowman Gray Stadium in the return game of a home-in-home series.

Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play begins on September 21st as WSSU travels to Ettrick, Virginia to take on the Trojans of Virginia State before returning home on September 28th to host Bowie State University. The final CIAA North game will take place at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia on October 5.

CIAA Southern Division play kicks off on October 12th as WSSU hosts Shaw University.

WSSU will travel to Livingstone (October 19), and St. Augustine’s (November 2).

The last two home games for the Rams will be Johnson C. Smith on October 26 and Fayetteville State for ‘Our Forever Red’ homecoming on November 9th.

The CIAA championships will be on November 16, 2024, in Salem, Virginia.

Season ticket packages and reserved seats will go on sale later this spring. Save the date to catch your returning WSSU football players in action at the Spring game on April 13th at Carver High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
