Texas Southern wins CIT opener with just eight players

Texas Southern only had eight players, but it managed to stay alive in the CollegeInsider Tournament.

Texas Southern was out-manned but not outgunned as it grinded out a gritty postseason win.

TxSU took control in overtime to pick up a 95-89 win over New Orleans on the road on Tuesday in the College Insider Tournament. The win marked the second year in a row it came up with a postseason basketball win and it did it with just eight players available.

Jeremy Combs led the way for the Tigers with 19 points.

The game was tied at 81 at the end of regulation before TxSU outscored New Orleans 14-8 to pick up the win.

Texas Southern will take on UT- Rio Grand Valley, who held off Grambling on Wednesday, in the next round.
