Tee Martin planned on playing for an HBCU before Tennessee came calling

Tee Martin will always be remembered as the quarterback who did what Peyton Manning couldn’t do–lead Tennessee to a national championship. Despite his place in SEC lore, the current wide receiver coach at USC always thought he was headed for an HBCU growing up.

Martin, who hails from Mobile, Alabama, is very familiar with HBCU sports and culture. He talked about this with Trenise Ferrira for her upcoming thesis on HBCU football called “Student Body Left.”
