For the second-straight season, North Carolina A&T came into the Atlanta Classic as the MEAC’s hottest team. And for the second-straight season, South Carolina State walked away with the win and the trophy. SC State used a heavy dose of the run game and stifling defense to come away with a 13-0 win over A&T in the Georgia Dome on Saturday.
The Bulldogs rushed for 197 yards while holding Tarik Cohen, the Aggies leading rusher, to just 49 yards on 21 attempts. SC State took advantage of freshman quarterback Haasan Klugh, sacking him four times and picking him off once as he made his first start in place of the injured Kwashaun Quick.
A&T faces a quick turnaround as it hosts Hampton Thursday night on national television.
