Last year, Bowie State emerged from the middle of the pack to win the CIAA Championship. It’s almost poetic justice that the team that kept them from defending their title might just make the same type of run. Johnson C. Smith beat BSU 81-75 in the quarterfinals of the CIAA Tournament this on Thursday, upsetting the Northern Division’s top team in the process.
Lamarquis Letchaw and Emilo Parks led JCSU with 20 and 19 points.
JCSU showed no ill-effects of playing it’s third game in a row and it’s fourth since finishing it’s tied contest with WSSU last Friday. JCSU and WSSU will meet again on Friday, with a berth on the CIAA Championship on the line.
