Former Howard guard Jeron Smith has made his way onto a prestigious list that has nothing to do with sports. Smith was named to Forbes “2015 30 Under 30” list on Monday for his work in the Marketing and Advertising Category.
Since stepping off hardwood, he’s become a superstar in the marketing world, playing a big role in Nike’s Jordan Brand.
Manages marketing of Nike’s Jordan Brand in its Western region. Led an integrated marketing effort that included the Jordan Hangar; the #FirstToFly execution around the launch of Air Jordan XX9; Blake Griffin and Super.Fly 2 launch activation, incorporating holographic technology and Google+; and the Chris Paul CP3.VII and VIII signature launch activations. Drove the North America execution of the “Basketball Never Stops” campaign.
The 29 year-old played in 77 games for Howard from 2005-2008, averaging four points and one assist per game.
