“Broussard said Southern received word from the NCAA in early December that it had insufficient and in some cases inaccurate records on the athletic program’s Academic Performance Program (APP) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data reporting dating back to 2009.
“The most upsetting aspect is that this is not an indictment of any current coaches or student athletes,” Broussard said.
Southern has a deadline of Wednesday to submit remaining paperwork for review by the NCAA committee on academic performance.
Broussard said the NCAA has assured him it will rule before the postseason as long as the Jaguars meet the deadlines. “
Southern’s mens’ basketball team nearly made history last year as it came close to becoming the first no. 16 seed to beat a no. 1 in the NCAA Tournament. Southern’s men and women’s basketball teams are both leading the SWAC.
