Five must-see HBCU Hoops Highlights: Jan. 9

There was a lot of action going on around the CIAA, MEAC, SWAC and SIAC on Saturday. Here are a couple of the highlights we came across from Jan. 9.

5. Elizabeth City State’s Miykael Faulcon scores his 1,000th career point on this step-back jumper. Faulcon finished with 25 points and 7 assists in ECSU’s 81-71 win over Johnson C. Smith.

4. We know James Daniel can score, but he can dish it as well as take it. Daniel, the nation’s leading scorer, finished with 28 points and 4 assists in Howard’s 72-63 win over Coppin.

3. Ty Newman with the sick-wraparound. Newman’s stat line (23 points, 9 rebounds) was solid, but Livingstone fell 87-79 to Virginia State.

2. Paris Collins sends Jackson State-Alcorn State into overtime.

// 1. Morgan State’s Kyle Thomas with the flush. Thomas finished with 14 points in Morgan’s 63-58 win over Delaware State.
