Under Armour has renewed its contract with Jackson State University as the official outfitter of all 17 of its varsity sports through 2029. This extension is grounded in Under Armour’s commitment to supporting student-athletes on the field, in the classroom, and on the job with its HBCU Career Combine and a historic year for Jackson State women’s sports with the basketball, softball, regular season tennis, and volleyball teams claiming Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship titles.
Supporting student-athletes throughout their entire collegiate journey is core to both UA and Jackson State. This extension will build upon the strong bond formed back in 2020 and continue their joint commitment to help more student-athletes compete at their highest levels and achieve academic success in the classroom.
“At Under Armour, our purpose is to empower those who strive for more. It has been a pleasure to outfit JSU athletes since 2020 as they compete in SWAC, considered one of the premier HBCU conferences, and additionally support them in their career journeys,” Sean Eggert, SVP, Global Sports Marketing, Under Armour said. “We’re excited to continue to evolve together and positively impact even more student-athletes.”
In 2022, Under Armour committed to raising the game and deepening relationships with Historically Black Colleges & Universities, including Jackson State. As part of this effort, Under Armour has hosted an annual early career program to provide professional development and networking opportunities for students interested in the sporting goods and apparel industry. This program — the HBCU Career Combine — allows participants to learn from top UA talent in fashion, retail, design, and business and receive critical leadership skills to support their career journey. Jackson State student-athletes participated in this year’s Career Combine, which took place at Under Armour’s Headquarters in Baltimore over the course of three days.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Under Armour,” Jackson State Vice President and Director of Athletics Ashley Robinson said. “The relationship we have enables cross promotion of two major brands in intercollegiate athletics in Under Armour and Jackson State. The opportunities of partnership are endless and heightens the student-athlete experience at Jackson State University.”
The future is bright due to the strength of both partners, the alignment of values, and the tremendous opportunity to positively influence the student-athletes, students, alumni, and fans of Jackson State.
