The LA Rams just lost one former FAMU assistant coach – but they just added another.
Chili Davis, former FAMU special teams coordinator, is expected to be hired by the Los Angeles Rams as a special teams assistant according to 247Sports.
Davis spent last season as special teams quality coach at Kansas State after coming over from FAMU where he spent one season on Willie Simmons’ staff as special teams coordinator.
Davis helped the Rattlers earn a 9-2 record — including a 7-1 mark in SWAC play — as the season was capped with a victory over Bethune-Cookman in the Florida Classic. He saw both his place kicker, Jose Romo-Martinez, and punter, Chris Faddoul, pick up first team all-conference and HBCU All-America honors. Romo-Martinez ranked fifth in the FCS with 1.55 field goals made per game, while Faddoul ranked 11th nationally with a 43.3-yard average. Additionally, FAMU ranked 30th in the nation with three blocked kicks.
Chili Davis is a Chester, VA native.
The LA Rams had former FAMU assistant KJ Black on their staff as an assistant quarterbacks coach for the previous two seasons. He has been hired to Raheem Morris’ staff at the Atlanta Falcons.
The LA Rams previously employed former Winston-Salem State star and HBCU assistant Tory Woodbury as a special teams coach a few years back.
