Report: FAMU narrows coaching interview list to eight candidates

The direction FAMU plans on going with its football program is starting to take shape. FAMU has narrowed its list of applicants down to eight candidates according to Tallahasee.com’s Jordan Culler.

The list of candidates is a mix of current HBCU head coaches and assistants, as well as former FBS coaches.

*Charlie Weatherby, former Louisiana-Monroe head coach
*Joker Phillips, former Kentucky head coach
*Willie Simmons, Alcorn State offensive coordinator
*Corey Fuller, FAMU interim head coach
*Latrell Scott, current Virginia State head coach
*Ester Junior III
*Mark Orlando, offensive coordinator at Prairie View
*Tony Samuel, former Southeast Missouri State head coach

The candidates will be interviewed via Skype Wednesday through Friday. The committee hopes to narrow its list down to three finalists by Dec. 17
