Kidd Bolts From North Carolina Central

North Carolina Central forward Stanton Kidd has left the program. (Durham Herald-Sun).

Stanton Kidd was a big part of North Carolina Central’s 22-win season in 2013. He now leaves a big void heading into 2014 season as he will not be back with the team. A spokesman for the NC Central athletic department confirmed reports that Kidd has left NCCU.

“He has been granted a release from NCCU and is looking to transfer.”

The Baltimore, MD native averaged 14.5 points per game for the Eagles, good for second on the team. He also averaged a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting over 55 percent from the field after transferring from South Plains College.

The loss of Kidd will be a tough one for the fledgling NCCU program to overcome. He was arguably the best big man in the MEAC and a legit pro prospect.Those don’t come along every day. Kidd’s transfer, along with the loss of senior forward Ray Willis means NCCU will have to replace 26 points and ten rebounds per game. But as long as Levelle Moton is the coach, NCCU can’t be counted out.
