Winston-Salem State (0-0) vs UNC Pembroke (0-0)
So Hard to be a Ram webseries
Winston-Salem State, the two-time defending CIAA champion, will begin its quest for a historic third-consecutive conference title and a national championship against a UNC-Pembroke program that has been a thorn in its side for past four seasons. After dropping the first three contests to WSSU from 2010 through 2013, UNCP has won three of the last four games against it.
The Rams have dropped their openers to the Braves in each of the last two seasons after getting early leads, including a 20-17 loss after scoring the first 17 points of the game. WSSU returns much of last season’s 9-3 team, including quarterback Rod Tinsley Jr. and running back Kerrion Moore, along with defensive end Jayron Rankin, a candidate for the Deacon Jones Trophy.
